Adding to the party after you reserve your spot can cost you more in the long run.
What's your date?
Selecting your date is important. Top caterers will book up quickly and way out in advance. Know your date and it is always a good idea to have an alternate date selected.
Where is your venue and what are the resources?
Get your venue selected and booked. Venue and caterer will go hand in hand. Make sure you know what resources and amenities your venue offers. Kitchen, double door entry, table, chairs, or any additional resources that may be included with your venue.
What is your vision?
Having an idea of what type of atmosphere will help guide your menu selections. Casual, elegant, country, knowing what type of event you want to pull off will help your planner best guide your options.
Price per plate?
Know your budget and STICK TO IT! Don't allow planners to up sell or over charge you for services that you may not need. It may always be NICE TO HAVE but is it in your budget?
Who is setting up & tearing down?
Plan ahead as to how you are setting up your event. Family and friends or a professional team? Are you renting your tables, chairs, linens, etc or do you want them provided. Down to Earth offers a variety of services to help in your planning and set up. Keep in mind that convenience can come at a price so you need to determine what your time and stress level is worth. Remember it may be a better choice to save a little on the place setting to hire additional help.
Timing is everything!
Timing and good planning can save you stress, time, and money. Always make sure you keep a good calendar. Book your venue for an extra day or two to allow time to set up, walk your DJ, Caterer, Planner, etc.
